TRY THE 21-MINUTE WORKOUT THAT BUILDS WORLD CUP WINNERS
The US Women’s National Soccer Team has dominated the last two World Cups not just because they’ve got the best players –but because those players are the world’s most prepared. The tournaments are grueling, with back-to-back matches against the globe’s toughest competition. To get ready, the US superstars go through batteries of conditioning drills that would leave lesser athletes gasping. Some, like this 21-minute Pitch Widths workout, are deceptively simple . . . but brutally efficient. Head to a local soccer field to see if you can keep up with the best.
How to do it:
1. After warming up thoroughly, stand on the sideline of a soccer field.
2. Run the width of the field and back in 25 seconds or less.
3. Rest for 25 seconds.
4. Repeat 5 times.
5. Jog 2 minutes to recover.
6. Repeat 2 more rounds of 5 pitch widths, jogging for 2 minutes in between.
